ScottishPower Sponsorship of SSAA: The energy company with a passion for the environment is delighted to be supporting Scottish Schools athletes for a fourth year to help them aspire to be the next big thing. Jim Paterson, sales and marketing director of ScottishPower said: "After the announcement that Glasgow would play host to the prestigious 2014 Commonwealth Games, the spotlight is now on athletes across the country, particularly those at the grassroots level. The reality is that some of the young athletes who have competed in the ScottishPower events could very well represent their country during 2014 and this is something we're really proud of. As an energy company, we are determined to make an impact on children across the country as it's important to influence at a young age. We feel that by switching off power-draining computers and televisions and competing in prestigious events instead, such as these, not only are children leading a fit and healthy life, they are also helping our environment." The deal alongside Scottish Schools Athletics Association and scottishathletics will see ScottishPower sponsor nine athletics events throughout 2008 including all the Scottish Schools Athletics Association Championships.
